Great Highway, San Francisco

I took the N-Judah street car to Ocean Beach and then walked the five miles back home.  Here’s some characteristic street scenes.

Neighbors often get inspiration for each other, or think it is horticulturally acceptable.

Lots of small potted eucalyptus,  I wonder the story here.

A recently installed entry garden by Frank Eddy.   It is beautifully simple.

Every block has an oddity or two.  This is two blocks from the Pacific Ocean.

I noticed a good amount of leucodendrons planted in the sandy soil.  They seem to be thriving.

The city residents voted in November to close the Great Highway and make it a park.  I love the idea and fully support this reclaiming of excessive highway infrastructure and creating a park honoring the spectacular beach on the Pacific coast.
