Vicksburg Terraced Dry Garden

Gertrude Jekyll and her garden at Hestercombe was my inspiration for this garden design. I picked mostly Mediterranean plants and laid them out in drifts. Silver plants, seed heads, yellow & purple, I wanted lots of hot colors along with the cool lavenders and blues.

Agapanthus, Stachys byzantina, Achillea 'Coronation Gold' with Clivia & Calla Lilies beyond.

Yarrow (Achillea 'Coronation Gold')

Euphorbia 'Black Bird', Kniphofia, Yucca filamentosa 'Color Guard' and Artemisia 'Powis Castle' in a sea of noxious Oxalis pes-capre.

Nasturtium, Oxalis and wild onions take over briefly during the rainy season.

Arctostaphylos densiflora 'Sentinel' with Euphorbia amygdaloides robbiae beyond.

Dry stacked top three layers of brick.

Pepper Tree, not sure if it is the Californian (Schinus molle) or the Brazilian (Schinus terebinthifolius) one. This tree is why we don't irrigate the garden.
