Hinton Ampner

June 3, 2024

Since our morning garden was closed, we had extra time in the afternoon.  We looked up near-by gardens on gardenvisit.com and found this Grade II Tudor house along with a twentieth century gardens owned by the National Trust.

Trees of great character along the Hampshire countryside.

Salvia ‘Ember’s Wish’ in their nursery.

I can never get enough Alchemilla.  I tried it once in San Francisco and it failed miserably.  I think it needed more water than I was willing to allocate.

The Ha-ha here is hidden behind this large hedge for reasons unknown to me.

Fat women with umbrellas, or yew topiaries?

I love seeing all the bees at work.

Rosa ‘A Whiter Side of Pale’

Erigeron glauca, a west coast native.   It looks so good here with abundant rain. I didn’t think it would be happy in this climate.
